Motorsport Safety & Rescue - December 2013 report

After an exceptionally busy year, the Mostorsport Safety & Rescue team are about to take a well earned break over the Christmas and New Year period, before re-focusing their efforts on 2014 and the challenges that lie ahead.

The past 12 months has seen an increase in the amount of fleet and corporate work that MSR have provided to their clients, and this looks like increasing further still in 2014.

MSR’s services for press fleets is still growing, with three clients now working out of MSR’s Sydney depot, and two clients out of the Melbourne depot.

On the motorsport side, the past few months has keep MSR staff busy, with major events including Rally Australia, the Australasian Safari, Rally Victoria, Targa High Country and the Alpine Rally on the calendar.

Contracts have been secured for a number of major events next year, and the team are currently working on some exciting plans that could see them providing safety and rescue services for even more high profile motorsport events.

Because of the increased workload, more medical and rescue staff are being sought to fill staff vacancies. Anyone interested in becoming involved should contact MSR Manager, Tony Harris, on (03) 9310 3751.

In 2014, Jeff Woods will be responsible for MSR’s services on gravel rallies, while Tony Harris will look after other motorsport events.

As this year comes to a close, MSR would like to thank all their event and corporate clients for their support during 2013, including Fiat/Chrysler, Renault, Nissan, Infinity, Honda, Subaru, Kia, Sime Darby, Mitsubishi, Toyota, Lexus, Hyundai, Porsche and Proton.

“It’s been an incredibly busy year, but we’re already focusing on 2014 and some exciting times ahead,” MSR’s Geoff Becker said.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all our staff for their support during this year, and to wish them all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

“And a special mention should go to our Chief Medical Officer, Matt Croxford and his wife, Audrey, on the birth of their first child recently.”
