March Rally Report

MSR covered two rally events in March, the first being the Cerberus Rally, the first round of the Victorian Rally Championship.

This was the first time that MSR has covered a VRC round and did so with four First Intervention Vehicles (FIV's). Unfortunately the event was stopped after special stage five due to heavy rainfall.

MSR staff covering the event commented on the excellent organization and communications at the event and would like to publicly thank the organizers for allowing us to provide the safety coverage.

The second event that MSR covered was the Coates Rally of Queensland, the first round of the NEC Australian Rally Championship.

The overall placings for the weekend were 1st Simon and Sue Evans in the TRD Toyota Corolla, 2nd Eli Evans and Chris Murphy in a Evans Motorsport Subaru STI and 3rd was Brendon Reeves and Rhiannon (CJ) Smyth in a Les Walkden Rallying Subaru Spec C STI.

Eight FIV's were utilised for the weekend with two carrying additional rescue equipment. One of these vehicles was the new Toyota Troop Carrier which was supplied by Toyota.

The crews attended to two patients for the weekend both with minor injuries not requiring any hospital treatment.

A donation was made by MSR to the Brisbane Hospital Burns Research Unit in recognition of the contribution of the fire staff whom assisted with the event.

The next event for the team is the Quit Forest Rally in Western Australia.
